    • PURPOSE:To make a wire bonding process unnecessary and to make a device high-density easily by forming lead wires on a flexible substrate. CONSTITUTION:On a transparent glass substrate 19, PLZT elements 21 provided with electrodes 20a and 20b on both side faces are arranged at intervals of 25mum and are fixed by a transparent adhesive 22. Films 24 where lead wires 23a and 23b having prescribed patterns are fixed to surfaces of elements 21 by adhesion so that elements 21 are interposed between the films 24 in parts on the substrate 19, and further, these films are bent along vertical side faces of the substrate 19 and are widened and extended. Parts on the substrate 19 of lead wires 23a and 23b are connected to electrodes 20a and 20b by silver pastes 25, and grooves 26 are cut on the substrate 19 between elements 21. Since lead wires are extended in wide parts of the substrate 19, the wire bonding process is omitted to simplify the production process, and it is effective to a high-density parallel field optical shutter array.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain greater displacement amount, by putting one shim plate between two piezoelectric plates, adhering the metal electrode and covering the surface of the electrode with conductive resin film. CONSTITUTION:The piezoelectric plates 12 consisting of the piezoelectromagnet of lead zirco-titanate with the Au electrode 11 adhered on both surfaces and the shim plate 13 with the carbon fibers extended along the one direction and impregnated with epoxy adhesive agent 18 are prepared. This shim plate 13 is placed between the two piezoelectric plates 12 and pressed with heat at around 120-130 deg.C for three hours. With the adhesive agents 18 hardened, the bipolar entity is formed. Paints consisting of the low temperature hardening phenol resins and 80wt% of silver powder dispersed among the resins are painted on the electrode 11 on the piezoelectric plate 12 exposed to the outer surface, and the conductive resin film 14 is formed by heat hardening at the temperature around 130 deg.C. Thus by the joint effects of the shim plate 13 and the painted film 14, the greater displacement amount can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE: To lower driving voltage, improve reliability of discharge between electrodes and reduce cost by using PLZT sintered body having memorability at normal temperature and has no memorability at raised temperature for a shutter.
      CONSTITUTION: A PLZT sintered body 3 having composition that has memorability at normal temperature is utilized as it changes to a secondary effect material at a temperature higher than critical temperature at which it exhibits memorability and displays function of an electrooptical shutter, and electrooptical constant R shows a large value near this temperature. The shutter 3 made of PLZT sintered body is placed between polarizing plates 1, 2 in which direction of electric field vector of linearly polarized light makes right angle. When the direction of electric field, i.e. the direction of optic axis, of this sintered body 3 is made 45° to the polarizing plates 1, 2, light is passed by rotation of light electric field vector when the shutter 3 is driven by voltage. Accordingly, above- mentioned PLZT sintered body is used for this shutter 3 to give function of a shutter by temperature control.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent increases in scattering and driving voltage and capacitive coupling, by providing electrodes on both surfaces of an electrooptic crystal element, and connecting lead lines to those electrodes, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A light beam is made incident as shown by arrow. Silver electrodes 35 and 36 are adhered to the side surfaces 32a and 32b of transparent ceramic PLZT32, so a completely parallel electric field is formed as shown by broken lines. Further, this electric fields cross the incidence direction of the light beam at right angles. Therefore, only a lateral birefringence mode is caused and trouble such as scattering is eliminated. In addition, an electric flux path from one silver electrode 35 to the other electrode 36 is straight, so integral Eds is minimized to minimize a half-wavelength voltge for turning off a shutter. Further, the PLZT32 is independent, so there is no capacitive coupling between the electrodes 35 and 36, eliminating the possibility of malfunction. Thus, the increases in scattering and driving voltage and the capacitive coupling are prevented.
