    • PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality molded coal in a good yield by providing draining grooves on a molding roll to press-mold water-containing raw coal and keeping the lower end of a draining plate engaging with the draining grooves in the range of a specified position between the high limit position of the nip zone of the roll and the low limit one thereof. CONSTITUTION:Binder (tar, pitch, etc.) and water are added to pulverized coal to provide a pair of molding rolls 1 to press-mold heated, kneaded, water- containing raw coal. Plural draining grooves 2 are provided in the peripheral directions of the facing surfaces of both molding rolls and a device having the draining plate engaging with each draining groove is used. The position of the lower end of the draining plate of a part in contact with draining groove is kept in a range from the high limit position H1 of the nip zone H (biting zone) of the molding roll to an upward position by 3.2% of the roll diameter to manufacture the molded coal. By this method, the molded coal which is not inferior in quality and yield to high-flowability, water-containing raw coal can be obtained even from water-containing raw coal which is poor in flowability and low in moisture and binder.

    • PURPOSE:To regulate efficiently and rapidly the water content of wet powder contg. FeO and to obtain high-grade pellets from the powder while maintaining high work efficiency and preserving the environment by grinding and kneading the powder in a ball mill or the like and by utilizing generated heat of friction to stabilize the oxidation reaction of the powder at a high degree. CONSTITUTION:Powder contg. FeO such as a blend of wet converter dust with dry sintered ore is activated by grinding and kneading under rotation in a ball mill 12. At this time, the temp. of the atmosphere and the temp. of the kneaded material rise owing to heat of friction, the oxidation reaction of said powder is remarkably accelerated to rapidly generate heat, and much water is evaporated in a short time and discharged from an exhaust tower 16. The quantity of heat to be generated and the extent of evaporation are regulated in accordance with the amount of the fed starting material, heat input due to power for kneading, the exposure of FeO with high activity by grinding, the blending of starting materials, etc. The powder with regulated water content is shifted from the mill 12 to a granulator 19 and granulated at 75 deg.C, strength necessary for product pellets is not obtd.
