    • PURPOSE:To use a driving circuit in common and to reduce the cost of a display device by allowing a clock generation circuit to give a clock which idly feeds by as much as the first (m) bit of a first semiconductor IC to the driving circuit on an odd number scanning side and a clock which idly feeds by as much as the first (n) bit to the driving circuit on an even number scanning side. CONSTITUTION:Position specification data D is shifted to the 9th bit of the first semiconductor IC 17a in the driving circuit 15a on the scanning side, that means, the bit corresponding to an electrode Y1 on the scanning side of a display panel 11 by the clock CKO in a term (ts1). Besides, the data D is shifted to the 10th bit of the semiconductor IC 17b in the driving circuit 15b on the scanning side, that means, the bit corresponding to the scanning electrode Y2 of the panel 11. Then, the driving circuit 15b on the scanning side which made to correspond to the electrode Y on the odd numberth scanning side is substituted by inverting the top and bottom arrangement of the wiring substrate 16 of the driving circuit 15a on the scanning side. Thus, the driving circuit is used in common and the cost of the device is reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To improve display quality by exposing the end part of a transference electrode with a transparent conductive film, lower part insulating layer, luminous layer, and upper part insulating layer, in a peripheral region other than a display region, eliminated by a mechanical cutting method, and providing a terminal electrode conductive to the end part. CONSTITUTION:A region, to be the display region D of a panel out of three- layer films 3-5 formed in multi-layers, is protected with a rubber-made mask 31, and unwanted parts in a peripheral region are removed by a method in which abrasives are sprayed by high pressure like a liquid honing method. The separation of the mask 31 from the upper part insulating layer 5, after completely removing the unwanted parts in the peripheral region , causes the end part 2a of a transferent electrode 2 to be exposed from the three-layer films 3-5. Then a metal film such as Al and Ni is formed on the upper part insulating layer 5 to be made photo-etching for forming a belt-like back plate 6 and a terminal electrode 7. This can improve display quality, to obtain excellent gradation display quality even in an EL panel with a gradation display function.
