SOLUTION: An ink channel is formed from an ink storing chamber to an ink supply opening in an ink cartridge. In the ink channel, a channel control means capable of opening/closing the ink channel by receiving a drive force from an actuator is disposed. The bubbles can be effectively discharged to the capping means by accumulating a negative pressure in the inner space of the capping means in the state in which the channel control means is closed and then opening the channel control means. The channel control means is disposed in the ink cartridge side. Therefore, upon every replacement of the ink cartridge, the channel control means is also replaced, and reliability of the recovering operation of the printing function can be also improved by the cleaning operation executed by accumulating the negative pressure.

SOLUTION: In the inkjet recording apparatus, an ink supply needle 6 is located near one side in a direction perpendicular to the reciprocated directions of a carriage 3. A circuit board 31 is mounted on a wall of an ink cartridge 40 in the vicinity of the side on which an ink supply port 44 is formed and a plurality of contacts for connecting to an external control means are formed on the exposed surface of the circuit board 31. Therefore, even if a clearance is present between the carriage 3 and the ink cartridge 40, the movement path is restricted by the ink supply needle 6 and the ink supply port 44, and the contacts are made to the external control means in a prescribed order. As a result, the data loss due to the application of signals in a wrong, careless order in the semiconductor storage means is prevented.
