In the belt stretch member 4, gap adjustment parts whose thicknesses are greater than the thickness of the heat-resistant belt 3 but less than the sum of the thickness of the heat-resistant belt 3 and the minimum thickness of the sheet material, and which abut on the peripheral face of the thermal fixing roll 1 are formed at both edges of the face for holding the heat-resistant belt 3 between the thermal fixing roll 1 and itself, thereby adjusting a gap between them.
