    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute orientation analysis with less computational resources for detection of objects, such as faces in images. SOLUTION: A method and device for estimating an orientation of an object, such as a face, within an image are provided. One example method includes estimating an orientation of the image. The image is then analyzed using first and second candidate object orientations to generate respective first and second confidence values. The first candidate object orientation is equal to the estimated image orientation. The second candidate object orientation differs from the first candidate object orientation by a first predetermined angle, such as 180 degrees.
