    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of reducing driving voltage.
      SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with a first electrode and a second electrode arranged to be separated from each other with a certain interval, an electron acceleration layer provided between the first electrode and the second electrode and accelerating electrons in its interior with voltage impressed between the first electrode and the second electrode, a plurality of exciting gas particles injected and sealed in the electron acceleration layer and generating ultraviolet ray excited by accelerated electrons inside the electron acceleration layer, and a phosphor layer generating visible light excited by ultraviolet rays. Since only energy enough to excite the exciting gas particles is required, driving voltage can be drastically reduced as compared with a PDP requiring high energy to ionize discharge gas, and emission efficiency can also be improved.

      SOLUTION: Disclosed is the driving apparatus for the display panel which comprises a pulse application section 800 which applies pulses having 1st and 2nd voltages alternately to one of a plurality of electrodes and an energy recovering section 820 which accumulates electric charges in discharge cells while a pulse reaches the 1st voltage from the 2nd voltage and discharge the accumulated electric charges in the discharge cells while the pulse reaches the 2nd voltage from the 1st voltage, the energy recovering section including at least one magnetic field switch determining the time for which the pulse reaches the 2nd voltage from the 1st voltage while having inductance varying with the level of a current. Consequently, the rise time and fall time of the pulses applied to discharge the discharge cells of the display panel are shortened and the switching loss and ON-state loss generated when the pulses are applied can be reduced.
