    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode assembly capable of enhancing an energy density, and to provide a secondary battery. SOLUTION: The electrode assembly includes a positive electrode containing a positive electrode current collector and a positive electrode active material coated on the positive electrode current collector, a negative electrode containing a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode active material coated on the negative electrode current collector, an outermost electrode containing an outer current collector and an outer active material coated on the outer current collector, an inside separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an outside separator arranged between the outermost outer electrode and the positive electrode or the negative electrode. Either the positive electrode or the negative electrode is positioned between the outermost electrode and either the positive electrode or the negative electrode, and the outer current collector includes an outside surface facing a direction parting away from the outside separator and an inside surface facing the outer current collector. The outer active material is coated on both side of the outside surface and the inside surface and the thickness of the outer active material is thinner than the thickness of the positive electrode active material or the thickness of the negative electrode active material.
