    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PL-LCD which suppresses the degradations of the liquid crystals caused by UV rays to stimulate the phosphor, and has high light emission efficiency with a long lifetime. SOLUTION: This photoluminescence liquid crystal display includes a front panel and a rear panel, liquid crystals arranged between the front and rear panels, electrodes arranged between the inner surfaces of the above front and rear panels to generate electric fields on the liquid crystals, a light-emitting layer arranged on the front panel to emit visible light by a light of wavelength 390-410 nm, a light source disposed behind the rear panel and having a lamp to make blue ultraviolet rays of 390-410 nm wavelength irradiated to irradiate the light-emitting layer, and an ultraviolet-ray filter to cut off the ultraviolet rays, contained in the ambient light coming from the front of the front panel.
