摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual image display device which allows for viewing good brightness-adjusted images, reducing fatigue given to a viewer thereby.SOLUTION: An image display device 80 has light distribution characteristics having a wider light distribution angle in a horizontal direction, corresponding to a traverse direction parallel to a direction in which eyes of a viewer are aligned, than in a vertical direction corresponding to a longitudinal direction perpendicular to the direction in which eyes of a viewer are aligned, and thus has a wider light distribution angle in the horizontal direction, which allows for suppressing luminance difference that can appear depending on the exit angle of image light in the horizontal direction. Such an arrangement allows for viewing good brightness-adjusted images, reducing fatigue given to a viewer thereby.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optic device having high reflectance in a bright display mode or having low reflectance in a dark display mode, and thereby, having a high contrast ratio.SOLUTION: The electro-optic device includes a first substrate, a light-transmitting second substrate, an electro-optic layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a first light-transmitting film 23a, a second light-transmitting film 23b and a third light-transmitting film 23c successively formed from a substrate side of the second substrate, in which the refractive index of the second light-transmitting film 23b is larger than the refractive index of the second substrate, smaller than the refractive index of the first light-transmitting film 23a and smaller than the refractive index of the third light-transmitting film 23c. The transmittance for incident light IL to the electro-optic device is increased by refractive index matching, interference extinction and scattering prevention. As a result, the electro-optic device has low reflectance in a dark display mode and high reflectance in a bright display mode and forms an image with a high contrast ratio.
