SOLUTION: The surface light source device includes a plurality of main bodies for altering invisible light beams generated from plasma generated in each discharge space, a part of which is mutually coupled, to visible light beam; and a plurality of plasma storage parts disposed at peripheries of coupling parts mutually coupling the discharge spaces, respectively and store the plasma to prevent variations of densities of the plasma in the respective discharge spaces. A display quality of the display device is dramatically improved by reducing the non-uniformity of the brightness at the surface light source device.

SOLUTION: The device includes a light source main body generating light; a first and a second external electrodes respectively formed at opposed end parts of an outer surface of the main body to apply a discharge voltage to the main body; and a reflecting film formed inside the main body and composed of a coating resin 310 and scattering particles 322, 324 with at last two or more particle sizes. Here, the particles 322,324 are composed of oxide with a superior heat resistance. According to this configuration, the reflecting film can lower a change in chromatic coordinate of the light to be reflected and improve a reflectance rate.
