    • PURPOSE:To obtain high-purity iron oxide at low cost by applying treatment such as gravity concentration on hematite ore and/or magnetite ore followed by adding a sodium component to the purified ore fraction therefrom and performing calcination. CONSTITUTION:A raw material 1 such as hematite ore and/or magnetite ore is freed from foreign substances through a screen 2 followed by feeding, via a concentration regulation tank 3, to a cyclone 4 to carry out wet classification. Thence, a fraction of larger size 4A is introduced into an agitation tank 6A, while the other fraction of smaller size 4B into a settling separation tanks 5 to feed the subfraction of larger size 5A into a second agitation tank 6B. The both fraction 4A and subfraction 5A are fed to coarse particle- and fine particle-table dressing machines 7, 8 respectively, to perform gravity concentration. The resulting purified ores 9A, 10A are each incorporated with a sodium component such as solid NaOH to carry out sodium calcination 11 followed by washing 12 and filtration 13 to eliminate the impurities contained, and the filtrate fraction is classified by a second cyclone 14, the resultant fraction of larger size 14A being ground 15 and classified 16, then fed to the next process into a product 21, whereas the fraction of smaller size 14B is put to recycling use.

    • PURPOSE:To recover ZnCO3 with hardly any impurities, such as Fe and Pb, by heat-treating a kiln dust in an oxidizing atmosphere, dissolving the heat- treated kiln dust in sulfuric acid and adding Na2CO3 to the resultant solution. CONSTITUTION:Reduced iron is removed from a dust generated from iron mills by using a kiln 5 and the residual kiln dust 6 is heat-treated at >=400 deg.C temperature 7 in an oxidizing atmosphere. The heat-treated kiln dust, as necessary, is then subjected to wet magnetic separation 8, filtration 9 for removing an Fe-rich slurry or directly dissolved in sulfuric acid 10. The resultant sulfuric acid solution is subsequently filtered 11 to remove Fe and Pb left on the filter. On the other hand, Na2CO3 is then added to the obtained filtrate after removing the Fe and Pb and neutralization and crystallization 12 are carried out by exothermic reaction expressed by the formula to recover ZnCO3. The crystallized slurry is subsequently filtered 13 to dry 14 the formed cake using heavy oil, etc., and utilized as a raw material for Zn based plating (e.g. pure Zn, Zn-Fe or Zn-Ni). Na2SO4 is concentrated and separately utilized as Glauber's salt, such as fertilizer.
