    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistance welding method, in lap resistance welding, by which the generation of a melting-scattering phenomenon in the initial stage and in the middle stage is suppressed so as to expand a nugget size, and to provide a method for producing a resistance welded joint.
      SOLUTION: When at least two steel sheets including at least one high tensile strength steel sheet are superimposed to perform resistance welding, the method includes: a first stage where the superimposed at least two steel sheets are energized so as to form a nugget having a nugget size of 3√t to 5√t (the code t is the sheet thickness (mm) of the steel sheet with a lower thickness in the at least two steel sheets); a second stage where, after the first stage, welding current is applied so as to be the welding current of 20 to 90% of the welding current in the first stage; and a third stage where, after the second stage, welding current larger than the welding current in the first stage is applied so as to expand the nugget, thus the resistance welded joint is produced. The treatment time of the second stage is 1.0 to 15 cycles (1.0 cycle is (1/60) s or (1/50) s).
