摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a molten salt electroplating apparatus protected from corrosion by a molten salt such as molten chloride used as an electroplating bath and having superior durability by coating parts brought into contact with the plating bath in an electroplating apparatus with polyimide resin. CONSTITUTION:When molten anhydrous aluminum chloride is used as an electroplating bath 12 in the electroplating cell 14 of a molten salt electroplating apparatus to electroplate a steel strip 10 with Al, parts brought into contact with the hot bath 12, e.g., the housing 24 of each anode chamber 16 contg. Al pellets 22, a porous panel 26 and a screen member 28 covering the front of the chamber 16 and the inside of the cell 14 are coated with polyimide resin having a molecular structure contg. no ether bond. Since the polyimide resin has superior durability to the plating bath and also has superior electric insulating property, the plating apparatus is protected from corrosion by the plating bath and has improved durability.

The band steel 2 is introduced into a preheating stage, and dried in the inert gas atmosphere 9 isolated from the outside by a seal roll 8. The steel is then sent into an anodic electrolysis cell 10 in the same atmosphere, subjected to the anodic electrolysis in the fused-salt electrolytic bath of AlCl3, etc., and activated. The pretreated band steel 2 is sent into a fused-salt electrolysis plating bath 14 preferably kept in an inert gas atmosphere through a roll 13 isolated from air, and specified electrolysis is carried out. Concretely, R is the average temp. gradient between the temp. in water washing, namely the temp. of washing water, and the maximum allowable temp.

The top end of each plate 12 is preferably formed to a convergent tapered shape. A rib 14 is projected near the nozzle 51 toward the plate 1 and return ports 8' for the plating liquid are provided before and behind the same. The plating liquid gushing the nozzle 51 forms counter current in the moving direction of the plate 1 and increases the relative speed between both. The part of the forward flow 13 is short and the liquid is returned through the ports 8' into the circulating path. The plating liquid 12 gushing from the nozzle 52 is directed to the port 8' by the rib 14 and forms therefore counter current thereby increasing the relative speed. The plating layer having excellent quality is thus formed and the contact of the anode 2 with the steel plate 1 which is the cathode is prevented by the presence of the rib 14.
