    • PURPOSE:To allow centering of the butt ends of materials and to allow the sure and good execution of a welding operation by disposing centering devices which can guide both side ends of the respective materials to the material incoming side of a cutter and the material outgoing side of a welding device between the two devices. CONSTITUTION:One unit each of the cutter 1 which cuts the tail end of the preceding material P1 and the front end of the succeeding material P2 respectively in the transverse direction and the welding device 2 which butts the tail end of the preceding material P1 and the front end of the succeeding material P2 against each other and welds these ends are disposed. Incoming side and outgoing side moving devices 17A, 17B which can transfer the materials by the distance L1 between the cutting position and the welding position while clamping the same are disposed. The centering devices 21, 22 which guide both side ends to the position of the material incoming side parted by the same distance L2 from the cutting position and the welding position are disposed. The centering devices 22, 25 are disposed to the position on the material outgoing side of the distance L3 from the cutting position and welding position. The set condition at the time of cutting is reproduced in this way at the time of the setting for welding of the preceding material and the succeeding material and the sure welding operation is carried out while the perpendicularity is maintained.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently quench inner and outer surface of a pipe, by revolving a star wheel while holding a pipe through roll and revolving it at top end of plural hung arms of the wheel, and continuously dipping the pipe in order in water. CONSTITUTION:The star wheel 8 revolvable forwardly and reversely is arranged above a water vessel 6, and an arm 12 for pressing pipe openable and closable with a cylinder unit 14 and having rolls 10 for revolving and driving the pipe and rolls 13 for pressing pipe is provided at top end part of the plural over hung parts 9. The pipe 1 transferred in order against multiple dipping and quenching equipment of the constitution is held between the rolls 10, 13, further revolved, and the wheel 8 is suitably revolved in forward and reverse directions around a revolving shaft 7. In this way, the pipe 1 is dipped in water to quench the inner and outer surfaces. The pipe 1 after quenching is released by operating the arm 12 are carried out the water vessel 6 by a carrying out conveyor 15 through upper slant surface of a skid 16 in water.

    • PURPOSE:To improve mechanical efficiency and to permit easy carrying in and out of a material by disposing one of the driving systems for rolling rolls of a crossing type cross helical rolling mill on the inlet side of a pass line and disposing the other driving system on the outlet side of the pass line. CONSTITUTION:Roll shafts 3, 3' of the crossing type cross helical rolling mill are disposed to face each other in such a manner that the side shafts incline at a required angle with the pass line L at the center of rolling rolls 5, 5' when viewed laterally and cross at an angle alpha with the line L when viewed from the plane. The driving system for the roll 5 consisting of a driving motor 6 and a reduction gear 7 is provided on the counter roll 5 side and the inlet side of the roll and the driving system for the roll 5' consisting of a motor 6' and reduction gear 7' is provided on the roll 5' side of the line L and on the outlet side of the line. The setting range of the crossing angle alpha is thus widened and the combined angle of the cross pin part of universal joint parts 9, 9' is made small. The mechanical efficiency of a piercer is thereby improved and the carrying in and out of the material is made easy.
