    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute the treatment of a cast slab in a short time without developing any trouble to the flow of following cast slab by fully automatically executing the cut-off and the discharge of a crop at the end part of the cast slab cut to a prescribed length and the cut-off and the taking of a sample piece on-line. SOLUTION: Uncutting continuous cast slab from a continuous casting machine is fed to a primary cutter 3 through a pinch roll group 1 and cut to the prescribed length. Then, the fixed length cast slab having a crop at the cut front end part or rear end part is fed to a side feeding device 15 through roller tables 4, 16 and side-fed to one side of a main line, and the crop is cut off with a secondary cutter 7, and the fixed length cast slab is returned back again to the main line with the side feeding device 15 and transported to the main line on the apposite side with a side feeding device 17 for taking out and transporting. Further, the fixed length cast slab with a sample is transported from the primary cutter 3 to the ternary cutter 13, and the sample is cut off and the remaining fixed length cast slab is fed back with roller tables 14, 16 and fed to the opposite side main line with the side feeding device 17 for taking out and transporting. By this constitution, the productive efficiency of the fixed length cast slab can be improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a billet cutting device capable of highly maintaining cutting performance by making wear of a guide mechanism difficult to generate and allowing replacement on a line and adjustment in operation.
      SOLUTION: This device is provided with fixed blade 2 and movable blade 4 for cutting a long-sized metal bar as the billet, a hydraulic cylinder 3 mounted with the movable blade 4 on a piston rod 3b, a frame 1 fixed with the fixed blade 2 and the hydraulic cylinder 3, and the guide mechanism of the movable blade 4. The guide mechanism is constituted of a fixed guide 10 provided around a guide hole 5 formed on the frame 1 and outside the frame 1, and a sliding guide 20 passing through the guide hole 5 of the frame 1 to be mounted to project the outside. A gap adjusting means sliding in the relation to the fixed guide 10 and using shims 14 and 15 for the sliding guide 20 and (or) the fixed guide 10 is mounted on the sliding guide 20.

SOLUTION: This mold is formed of a copper plate 5 constituting the inner wall surface of the mold and a water box frame arranged on the back surface of the copper plate 5, and on the back surface of the copper plate 5, many vertically extending slit grooves 11 are formed. Consequently, the cooling range of the copper plate 5 approaches the upper end of the mold and the meniscus m can be formed at a high position and the vidual observation of a worker is facilitated.
