SOLUTION: A neutron beam for observation led out from a neutron source is allowed to pass the first slit, and guided into the second slit through a guide pipe formed from a neutron mirror, to thereby narrow the diameter of the neutron beam to be irradiated to the sample. A plurality of detection pipes for detecting scattered neutrons are aligned on a circular arc centered at the sample, and each shielding plate facing to the center is provided between each detection pipe. While moving a stand on which the measuring sample is placed at each prescribed interval by a moving mechanism, data of the detection pipes are acquired, and mapping data are acquired.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing a degradation of a steel framed structure, which can easily and precisely inspect a defect such as a corrosion or the like existing inside a wall of the steel framed structure through the outer surface of the wall.
      SOLUTION: A defect detecting device is equipped with magnetic impedance effect elements being arranged in parallel and each having a bias field coil and a plurality of detecting channels each of which detects an output of each element through a detector circuit. A surface to be inspected of the steel framed structure is scanned with the magnetic impedance effect elements being kept close to the surface to be inspected, by using the defect detecting device. The wall of the steel framed structure becomes a portion of a magnetic field circuit which is the bias field generated by the bias field coil, and the strength of the bias field varies in accordance with the degree of corrosion/reduction in the backside of the wall, and changes in outputs of the magnetic impedance effect elements correlate with the degree of corrosion/reduction in the backside of the wall. Therefore, the degree of corrosion/reduction in the backside of the wall can be determined from the changes in the outputs.

      SOLUTION: The magnetic detector, which has a coil for applying magnetic field to the metal body and the magnetic impedance effect type sensor for detecting the leaking magnetic flux at the flaw location of the metal body, is moved to the inspection region of the surface of the metal body; while the magnetic field for demagnetization or magnetization is made to act on the inspection region of the surface of the metal body, to uniformize the magnetized state of the metal body and the surface of the metal body is scanned by the magnetic detector, while applying a flaw-detecting magnetic field to the surface of the metal body by the coil, to detect the flaw of the metal body by the magnetic impedance effect type sensor. Since the flaw of the metal body is detected by using the magnetic impedance effect type sensor by the leakage magnetic flux flaw detecting test method, after demagnetization or magnetization method, the effect of the leaking magnetic flux noise due to residual magnetism is excluded, and the flaw location of the metal body can be detected with original high sensitivity that is based on the magnetic impedance effect.

Two coils for detecting a magnetic field are arranged at a prescribed close interval in the same direction along the electric wire, an object to be inspected, so as not to be affected by disturbance such as variations in the value of the load current passing through the electric wire, an environmental magnetic field, or the like and to be hardly affected by the effects of the eccentricity of the conductor, variations in the thickness of the insulating layer, or the like. The difference between electromotive forces induced by the two coils is acquired.
