    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce displacement between multiple retardation regions and multiple color filters (pixels) arranged on a substrate when manufacturing a display device member including a retardation layer having the retardation regions in which directions of slow axes are different from each other along the substrate.SOLUTION: A polarizing layer 54 is formed on a light emission side F of a substrate 53. On the polarizing layer 54, an oriented film with multiple pattern regions having a function to align a liquid-crystalline component of a liquid crystal composition as a material for a retardation layer 56 in alignment directions which are different from each other in accordance with directions of slow axes 71a, 71b is formed on positions corresponding to an alignment of multiple color filters A1 and the like, B1 and the like. On the oriented film, the liquid crystal composition containing a polymerizable liquid crystal compound is applied and is maintained at a temperature exhibiting a liquid crystal phase, and the liquid-crystalline component is aligned in the alignment directions which are different from each other in accordance with the directions of the slow axes 71a, 71b in each region corresponding to the multiple pattern regions. The polymerizable liquid crystal compound forming the liquid-crystalline component is polymerized while keeping the alignment directions so that the retardation layer 56 is formed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic display device with fewer defects of separation (crosstalk) between image information to be observed by a right eye and image information to be observed by a left eye to achieve excellent stereoscopic display.SOLUTION: A stereoscopic display device comprises a substrate, a polarization control plate, and an organic electroluminescent element. The organic electroluminescent element is an element for emitting light to the polarization control plate and the substrate and includes a right-eye organic electroluminescent element for displaying image information to be observed by a right eye and a left-eye organic electroluminescent element for displaying image information to be observed by a left eye. The polarization control plate can control the polarization state of incident light so that the polarization state of light coming from the right-eye organic electroluminescent element and the polarization state of light coming from the left-eye organic electroluminescent element are different from each other.
