    • PURPOSE:To upgrade resolution in an output field and to obtain a moving image with least obscurity by determining the movings of an image at points apants from each other for lengths equal to a prescribed numbers of picture elements in the horizontal and vertical directions by block matching method to obtain a moving vector, and determining sub-picture element offset representing the moving in such a field of image data as not equal to the cipher-times of the interval between said picture elements. CONSTITUTION:The moving of a television picture at the points distant from each other for the lengths equal to the prescribed numbers of picture elements in the horizontal and vertical directions are determined by block matching method to obtain a moving vector, and a discrimination for selecting a moving vector is provided by determining sub-picture element offset representing the moving in such a field of picture data not equal to the integer- times of the interval between said picture elements. Respective sub-picture element offsets are determined correlatively with the moving in the horizontal and vertical directions. In the block matching method, the minimum differences at just three positions that are a point in the center of the block, a point shifted to the left by 16-sample length, and a point shifted to the right by also 16-sample length are tested. The method is started from these points, subsequently, the minimum differences among the nine pieces of positions disposed symmetrically around these stating points are tested with less prescribed number of samples or lines for a step.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain vertical resolution and to eliminate the rocking of a picture by compensating inter-field motion by separating plural motion vectors into groups, and substituting the respective vectors of such plural groups as including most many motion vectors with the only one motion vector of each group. CONSTITUTION:Plural motion vectors representing the motion of the plural picture elements in the plural picture element blocks of an image are extracted; these motion vectors are sorted into plural groups, and into the respective groups, motion vectors within prescribed extents of different coverages and directions are included. By means of a processor, the motion vectors of each group in which maximum number of motion vectors are included are substituted with the only motion vector which represents the motion vectors of the each group itself. The extent of specific coverage and direction to each group is determined in accordance with polar histogram. A motion vector extraction means determines, through a block matching method, the motions at points apart from each other by a prescribed number of samples in the horizontal direction and a prescribed number of samples in the vertical direction, thereafter, thus obtained motion vector estination is further discriminated by a vector filter and a vector calculator.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate adverse phenomena such as multiple images, shuddering, obscurity, etc., of an image caused by system conversion interpolation by compensating the moving in a digital television image while using an interpolator consisting of three-dimentional limited inpulse response interpolation filters that operates in horizontal, vertical, and time domains. CONSTITUTION:This invention is an interpolation method in which a moving in a digital television image is compensated by using the interpolator consisting of the three-dimentional limited inpulse response interpolation filters that operate in the horizontal, vertical, and time domains. The interpolator disposes fields disposes fields in accordance with sub-picture element resolution according to a moving vector representing a moving in the picture elements of an image, while the moving vector is obtained by determining the moving of the image at such points as away from each other for the length of a described number of samples both in the horizlntal and vertical directions by means of block matching method. In the block matching method, the minimum differences at just three positions that are a point in the center of the block, a point shifted to the left by 16-samples length, and a point shifted to the right by also 16-sample length are tested.     • PURPOSE:To obtain a good picture with a few judder through a miniaturized equipment by analyzing a motion between continuous fields of an input TV signal, and obtaining a still picture by lining up the field, and converting it into the output TV signal of another type. CONSTITUTION:The inpput TV signal of 625 lines 50 fields/sec is sent to a four-field time base corrector 11, and one of the output of it motion-analyzes 2 the input TV signal, and other outputs are sent to field memories 12-16 through a frame delay unit 17. Then, according to samples, obtained from the memories 12-16, and motion picture data, obtained from an analyzer 2, the signal of 585 lines 60 fields/sec is outputted from an interpolator 1. This signal outputs the video signal of 525 lines 60 fields/sec through a two-field time base corrector 18. Similarly, the video signal of 525 lines 60 fields/sec can be converted into the TV signal of 625 lines 50 fields/sec two-field time base correcting 21, motion-analyzing 2, interpolating 1, and four-field time base correcting 22 it.
