    • PURPOSE:To provide the titled device having good workability and safety and preventing the wear due to oxidation of a rotary shaft by constituting said device so that minute air bubbles of a treating gas are dispersed into a molten metal from the bottom of a vertical rotary shaft, while rotating the shaft which is free in ascent and descent and inserted into a treating tank. CONSTITUTION:For treating a molten metal in a treating tank 1, an arm 3 supporting a rotary shaft is descended and the rotary shaft 4 is inserted into a tank 1 from an inserting port 9 for the rotary shaft and dipped in the molten metal. Then the shaft 4 is rotated by a motor 20 and simultaneously a treating gas such as N2 is discharged in minute air bubbles into the molten metal from a gas blowing-out port 7 of a rotatable body 6. After the removal of gaseous H2 and nonmetallic inclusions in the molten metal by the treating gas, the supply of the treating gas and the rotation of the shaft 4 are stopped, and the shaft 4 is taken out of the tank 1 by ascending the arm 3. Consequently the wear of the shaft 4 can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To remove efficiently the gaseous hydrogen contained in an aluminum melt by blowing a treating gas in a foaming state into the aluminum melt in a treating tank and incorporating gaseous BF3 into the atmosphere above the melt surface. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum melt 1 is put into a treating vessel 2 and a cover 3 is put thereon. A member 6 for releasing the foamed treating gas which consists of a discoid body 6a and a porous ceramic body 6b attached to the surface thereof is attached to the top end of a supply pipe 5 for the treating gas inserted into the hole 4 of the cover 3 and extending to near the bottom. A treating gas which is an inert gas such as N2, Ar or the like is blown in the foaming state into the aluminum melt 1 from the member 6 and further gaseous BF3 is blown from a supply pipe 7 for gaseous BF3 provided to the cover 3 and is discharged from a discharge pipe 8 so that BF3 is incorporated into the atmosphere above the surface of the melt 1 at about 2-40vol%. The intrusion of the moisture in the atmosphere and hydrogen generated by the reaction of the melt 1 is thus prevented and the hydrogen in the melt 1 is effectively removed.
