    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of operators in the harvester of root vegetables and to improve production efficiency while conventionally three operators are required and the harvester is not compact. SOLUTION: This harvester is provided on a traveling vehicle 1 capable of self-traveling and a dig-up device 2 for clamping the foliage part of a root vegetable planted in a field and digging up the root vegetables, a clamping and carrying body 3 for clamping the dug-up root vegetables and carrying it to a rear upper direction, a root vegetable carrying body 5 for clamping the root vegetable part of the root vegetables sent from the clamping and carrying body 3 and carrying the root vegetable part from which the foliage part is cut off to a receiving base further, a cutting device 7 for continuously cutting the foliage part of the root vegetable kind sent from the clamping and carrying body 6 and the receiving base provided with a receiving surface capable of mounting the root vegetable part from which the foliage part is cut off in a laid-fallen posture are arranged at positions on one of left and right sides on the traveling vehicle 1. Further, a maneuvering part 9 is arranged at the front part position of the position on the other one of the left and right sides on the traveling vehicle 1, a crane part 10 is arranged behind the maneuvering part 9, a root vegetable housing container 11 is freely attachably and detachably disposed at the rear part position on the traveling vehicle 1 and an operator work floor 12 is provided on the position in contact with the receiving base and the root vegetable housing container 11.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the good cut face of the stem and leaves of a root vegetable by inhibiting the stem and leaves from expanding in the longitudinal direction at the relaying zone from the backward conveyer to the upper conveyer (a stem and leaves-cutting conveyer). SOLUTION: This root vegetable harvester comprises a device which pulls out a root vegetable by nipping its stem and leaves, a backward conveyer machine 4 which nips the stem and leaves with a couple of elastic belts 42 and conveys them upward in the backward direction, as the belts 42 hang down the root vegetables and a cutter s which cuts off the stem and leaves. The cutter s is constituted with a cutting conveyer machine 5B which nips again the stem and leaves of a root vegetable sent from the backward conveyer machine 4 and conveys them, as it hangs them down, with a rotary blade 6 which cuts the stem and leaves of the conveyed root vegetable and with a squeezing mechanism D set to the start edge of the cutting conveyer mechanism 5B so as to regulate expansion of the width of the stem and leaves in the conveying direction and narrow them. The squeezing mechanism D is composed of a swingable resisting bar 71, a spring which energizes the resisting bar to the position protruding to the path for conveying the stem and leaves and the resisting bar 71 is made movable backward against the energization.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable smooth root vegetable-collecting work, even when the conveying mechanisms are actually different, for example, make it possible to convey the root vegetables or cut off the stem and leaves without inconvenience, even when the stem and the leaves are nipped with a pair of belts. SOLUTION: This root vegetable harvester is provided with a device 3 which nips its stem and leaves of a radish and pulls out the radish from the ground, a conveyer 4 which hangs down the pulled-out radish and conveys it upward to the rear, a positioning conveyer mechanism 5 which nips again the stem and leaves of the radishes and conveys them, as it hangs down them and a cutter 6 which cuts the stem and leaves during conveying so that the vertical distance between the rear conveyer 4 and the positioning conveyer mechanism on the lower side may expand mutually as they go backward. The nipping powers of the rear conveyer 4 and the positioning conveyer mechanism 5 are set so that it may become slidable, when the vertical power acting on the root vegetable increases over a prescribed value, and the prescribed value according to the rear conveyer is set larger than that of the positioning conveyer 5.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which the length of stems and leaves left in the root part of a root vegetable is not constant and a cut face is cut slantingly based on the longer direction of the root vegetable. SOLUTION: This harvester is equipped with a locating and transporting body 2 for nipping and sending root vegetables sent from a pulling out and transporting body 1 while nipping the root vegetables and locating approximately the top of the root vegetables, a root part transporting body 3 for nipping the lower part of a foliar part of the root vegetables sent from the locating and transporting body 2 and transporting them backward, a foliar part transporting body 4 for nipping the foliar part of the root vegetables and transporting them backward and a cutter 5 for cutting the foliar parts of the root vegetables between the root part transporting body 3 and the foliar part transporting body 4. The downstream side rear ends of the root part transporting body 3 and the foliar part transporting body 4 are extended backward behind the cutter 5, the root parts of the cut root vegetables and the foliar parts are independently transported backward and the transporting speed of the root part transporting body 3 is set at a higher transportation speed than that of the foliar part transporting body 4.
