      SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes the transfer device 116 having a transfer material transporting means for transporting the transfer material, and the fixing device 106 for fixing toner images, wherein a speed difference occurs between transfer material transporting speeds of the transfer device 116 and the fixing device 106, and the tension is generated in the transfer material 115 between the transfer device 116 and the fixing device 106. The transfer device 116 includes an energizing means 30 whose movement is restricted and which moves the fixing device 106 in a direction to reduce the speed difference when the tension is generated in the transfer material 115.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem which conventionally has been frequently generated in an image forming apparatus where a bias roller is arranged at the inside of a belt for transferring toner on the surface of a photoreceptor to the surface of an intermediate transfer belt that the surface of the bias roller is stained by toner, thus a bias is not effectively applied, and, image quality is reduced by providing a cleaning means for removing foreign matters and toner stuck to the surface of a transfer member arranged at the inside of the intermediate transfer belt.
      SOLUTION: As a method where a reverse bias is applied to a transfer means, toner is transited to an intermediate transferring belt 1, and the rear side of the intermediate transfer belt 1 is cleaned, an elastic blade is used. An intermediate transfer rear-side cleaner 26 is arranged between a cleaning opposed roller 20 and the primary transfer roller 8K in the rear side of the intermediate transfer belt 1, and the toner removed with the intermediate transfer belt rear-side cleaner 26 is recovered at a recovering part 27, arranged directly below in the gravity direction of the intermediate transfer belt rear side cleaner 26.
