    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which makes it possible to perform the restoration from a standby state at high speed while reducing an amount of overshoot of temperature of the fixing belt.
      SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a fixing device 20 including a fixing belt 24 and a pressure roller 21 pressed against the fixing belt 24. The fixing device 20 includes a temperature detection means 25 detecting the temperature of the fixing belt 24, and a temperature controller 26 controlling the temperature of the fixing belt 24. During restoring operation that the fixing belt 24 is rotated from the standby state in which it is heated in a stationary state, and its temperature is raised to paper passing temperature, a temperature controller 26 performs heating operation by ON/OFF control for a predetermined time from the time when the fixing belt 24 starts rotation, and performs switching to heating operation by PID control after the predetermined time elapses.
