摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the compression processing efficiency by considerably reducing the memory capacity in a page printer. SOLUTION: A page buffer is divided in the unit consisting of a prescribed number of blocks in a prescribed dot, drawn data are checked for each unit and when not all are at a white level, a compression processing result for each block is stored in a compression data table(CDT) designated by a white map table(WMT). When the compression processing is disable, image data are stored in an uncompression data record(UCDR) area as they are designated by the CDT. To which unit and to which block of a unit an image to be drawn belongs is calculated, Data drawn precedingly are decoded and replaced with new drawn data and compressed and drawn in the block of the page buffer. In a block with the 1st UCDR, data drawn newly are compressed and when compression is disable again by picture drawing and new 2nd UCDR is generated, then flag information is stored in the 1st UCDR.

摘要： PURPOSE:To imporve the picture quality of the image data and also to further decrease the quantity of data needed for higher image resolution and also needed to be previously stored in a memory. CONSTITUTION:The segment shape of a boundary part between the black and white dot areas of the image data evolved in a bit map form is recognized by a pattern recognizing part 74, and the features of the recognized segment shape are replaced with the bit code information to each necessary dot. The correction data are sent from a memory block 75 by means of the bit code information, and the images are corrected. At the same time, the same image data evolved in a bit map form with the same timing are repetitively generated in an FIFO memory 77 against an optional signal waveform. Thus the N-fold size (equivalent to the generating frequency) and the N-fold image resolution are secured for the image data.

CONSTITUTION:A CPU in a printer controller 3 decides whether a memory region for storing a one-page amount of bit mapping data is to be secured in a RAM 12, according to the total usable capacity of the RAM 12, use conditions of the RAM 12, the kind of printing data, the amount of data for one page, etc. When the RAM 12 is used by a full bit mapping system in which the memory region capable of storing the one-page amount of bit mapping data is secured in the RAM 12, the one-page amount of bit mapping data is formed in the memory, and is then outputted to a printer engine 4, whereby even a complicated figure is printed normally. When the usable capacity of the RAM 12 is so low that a memory region for storing the one-page amount of bit mapping data can not be secured, a memory region for storing only bit mapping data for a part of one page is secured, and printing is conducted by a partial bit mapping system.

When data is all '0', it shows that the unit has all white dots. When data is '0', the reading and expansion processing of compressed data is not executed on BW.

When the capacity of the compression codes exceeds a prescribed size, a PS interrupter 21 conducts 2nd rasterization into 2nd resolution (300 DPI) and a binary multi- value conversion processing section 26 converts the resolution of the data into the 1st resolution and the resulting data are fed to the printer engine 208.

When the data to be plotted newly are written in the modified block 223, the blocks are operated in the order of the read block 221, the modified block 23 and the compression block 224 and binary image data are subject to variable length reversible compression processing for each block word BW and the compression data are written in a compression memory (page memory) 23.
