摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head and a printing method in which high image quality printing is carried out by reducing adverse effects on printing images to be originated by coupling short thermal heads. SOLUTION: Selecting electrodes 26 1 -26N, heating elements 27 1 -27N, common electrodes 28 1 -28N and a connecting line 29 are set on a primary face of a heating substrate 22. The short thermal head has side faces 23 and 24. The short thermal heads are coupled so that the side face 23 of the short thermal head comes in contact with the side face 24 of the short thermal head, thereby constituting a long thermal head. Each short thermal head has one or a plurality of heating elements set at the coupled part side for printing the same position as a printing position of heating elements of the adjacent short thermal head. 摘要： PURPOSE:To make recognizing speed faster by refering to a relationship between approaching speed stored in a memory and a user or not to judge whether an approaching body is the user or not. CONSTITUTION:An image forming device is provided with an infrared emitting means to execute pulsative emission and an infrared receiving means to receive the infrared reflecting from a body near the device. A distance sensor 6 is driven on a sampling signal issued from a control section 11 to measure a distance to the body. A recognizing-judging section 9 makes judgement about the body being a responded object in compliance with a request from the control section 11. Data necessary for the access of locus informations such as data about the locus information, namely an address in a memory 13 having housed locus informations, and the approach or retreat of an objective body are received from a parameter extracting section 8. After that, the access and process are executed to the locus information of the objective body for which recognition and judgement in the device 13 are required, and for instance the judgement is executed about whether the objective body is a user or not in the case of the approach and whether the use of a device is finished or not in the case of the retreat.

The detection means projects infrared rays, emitted by an infrared emitting means, two dimensionally or three-dimensionally by a reflecting mirror or a light-projecting lens, photodetects infrared rays reflected by the object and detects the distance up to the object.
