The coupling member 24 is threadedly engaged with the female thread 23 so that the flange 24a is engaged with an end portion of the hub wheel 1. The hub wheel 1 and the outer joint member 10 are fixed in the shaft direction. Thus, the bearing device for the wheel has a fail safe mechanism that can operate a system on a safer side even if there is a variation in a strength of a connecting portion 21, thereby improving safety and reliability.
