    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorber and an energy absorbing method capable of materializing larger energy absorbing quantity.
      SOLUTION: The energy absorber 21 is provided with a hollow part 32 surrounded by a wall part 31, and includes a hollow molded body 30 formed of fiber reinforced plastic. The hollow molded body absorbs energy when compression load acts on a wall part by folding a wall part in such a manner that an outer surface 31a of the wall part is folded back to an inside of the hollow part or by folding the wall part in such a manner that an inner surface 31b of the wall part is folded back to an outside to make the outer surfaces face one another. The hollow molded body also absorbs energy by friction force by making folded wall parts contact one another when the wall parts are folded to the inside of the hollow part.
