    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst in which the activity improvement effect of a noble metal by a transition element is kept even in a high-temperature atmosphere without raising the manufacturing cost of the catalyst and without increasing the load on the environment and to provide a method for manufacturing the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is characterized in that the composite particle 1 of the noble metal with the transition metal is deposited on an inorganic compound carrier 3 in such a state that the composite particle 1 is surrounded by a compound 2 for forming no solid solution and the compound 2 for forming no solid solution is trapped/fixed in the reticulated structure of the inorganic compound carrier 3. As a result, the activity improvement effect of a noble metal by the transition element can be kept even in a high-temperature atmosphere since such a failure is prevented that the noble metal or the transition metal moves and agglomerates or the transition metal forms a solid solution together with the inorganic compound carrier 3 to deteriorate the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst.
