CONSTITUTION:The pulse from a charge pulse generating circuit 27 and the gate release pulse from a record controlling circuit 28 let a charge electrode 19 generate a high tension test pulse by a charge circuit 30 via AND29, charge an ink drop and at the same time, set a specific time generating circuit 31 and flip- flop (FF)32 by its rise-up. The output of this FF32 indicates the time (t) from the charge start of ink drop to an inkdrop detector 24, which is compared with the time T0 from the circuit 31 at a specific flow rate with a time difference comparison circuit 33. When time (t) is long and the flow rate is slow, the charge controlling circuit 30, charges an ink drop for a fixed time, flies the ink drop to the detector 24 and discards it into a gutter 25. Then, the decrease of ink in the tank 13 is supplemented from a cartridge 14.

Then, the need for cleaning means of the detecting elements is eliminated, and the change in the properties of the toner by the effect of heat does not occur.
