    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which has a plug or a receptacle capable of containing a built-in optical circuit connected with input/output optical fibers and which has a small size, low loss, and also a strength against an external force when fitted to an optical component.
      SOLUTION: The optical module is equipped with: a plug 1,002 having a ferrule 1,005; a receptacle 1,004 having a ferrule 1,007 and having a nearly 90° angle formed by the longitudinal direction of the plug 1,002 and that of the receptacle 1,004; an optical fiber 1,012 connecting the ferrule 1,005 to the ferrule 1,007; and an optical fiber housing part 1,003 which is formed between the plug 1,002 and the receptacle 1,004 and which is provided with an optical fiber housing space 1,009 for housing the optical fiber 1,012.
