    • PURPOSE: To promote the speed-up and simplification of connection success judgement by updating the number of idle channels among switches on call generation or termination.
      CONSTITUTION: The number of idle channels from the input side of a primary switch Ti to the output side of a tertiary switch Tj is studied using the map of the switch Ti and that of the switch Tj to store it in the first memory area. The second memory area to store the relationship of connection success relative to the number of the idle channels (l) and the generated call speed (number of required time slots) is prepared in a main memory 4. When a call occurs, a control circuit determines if the call can be connected successfuly by using the number of time slots required by the call and the number of idle channels obtained by referrencing the first memory area, and by referrencing second memory area. If the call is connected, the number of idle channels (l) stored in the first memory area is updated so that it corresponds to the actual number when the call is freed on its termination.
