    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjusting method of the zero-point of the lower horizontal roll of a rolling mill by which the zero-point adjustment of the horizontal lower roll can be easily performed and the level difference between the drive side and the free side is adjustable. SOLUTION: In the method for adjusting the zero-point of the lower horizontal roll 12 of the rolling mill 10 having lower roll chocks 24, 25 for rotationally supporting the lower horizontal roll 12 and a housing 10a for holding vertical roll chocks 20, 21, a pair of stopper blocks 54, 55 are provided on the housing 10a in the lower position of sliding guides 52, 53 in parallel to a pair of the sliding guides 52, 53 which are abutted on and slid on a pair of sliding liners 50, 51 which are provided in the front and the rear end parts of the vertical roll chocks 20, 21 and fixed to the housing 10a, the lower roll chocks 20, 21 are stopped by pressing them against the stopper blocks 54, 55 and, by taking this stop position as the reference height position, the zero-point position of the lower horizontal roll 12 is adjusted on the basis of the reference height position.     • PURPOSE:To clamp a steel pipe irrespectively of the base pipe part and upset part of the pipe by pivotally fitting pawls which clamp the steel pipe on cooling saddles oscillatably to the base fixed to a turning shaft. CONSTITUTION:Pawls 1 connected by means of pins 2 and bolts 3 to many bases 4 mounted to a revolving shaft 5 fitted to bearings 6 provided in plural pieces are held open in the state of 1' and a steel pipe 13 is placed on saddles 11. Cylinders 9 each one of which is cnnected to both ends of the shaft 5 are actuated by levers 7 and pins 8 to clamp the pipe 13 from both sides by the revolution of the shaft 5. Each pawl 1 is set to the bolt 3 at the space DELTA maintained by a spring 14 of a small spring constant which is given an optional rate of initial displacement and is inserted into the respective holes 16 of the pawl 1 and the base 4, so that the pawl is oscillatable around the pin 2 by as much as the space DELTA. The saddle 11 is adjustable in height if an eccentric cam 20 is turned.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of bending in a pipe owing to uneven hardening in the stage of hardening the pipe by cooling water by enabling the centering and distance adjustment between a nozzle for injecting the cooling water and the pipe in water cooling of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:A long-sized pipe 11 to be subjected to water quench hardening is clamped by means of plural receiving bases 2-10, and the base 2 is placed on a traveling carriage 28 which is freely movable forward and backward. A nozzle 12 provided with an injection port 1 for cooling water for the purpose of cooling the pipe 11 is mounted horizontally movable on a lifting frame 19. The frame 19 is pinned 20 to a lifting device 22. The exact centering between the port 1 and the forward end of the pipe 11 is accomplished by the forward and backward movements of the carriage 28 and the forward, backward, upward and downward movements of the nozzle 12 in cooling and hardening the pipe 11 with the cooling water injected from the port 1; at the same time, the distance l1 therebetween is adequately adjusted by such movements, whereby the water quench hardening of the pipe 11 is uniformly accomplished and the bending of the pipe owing to uneven hardening is prevented.
