    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melting method and a melting furnace separating gas containing unburned combustibles from solids containing unburned combustibles discharged from a gasification melting furnace, burning the gas containing unburned combustibles in a combustion furnace, and turning the solids containing unburned combustibles into slag in a reducing atmosphere in a swirl melting furnace. SOLUTION: In the melting method, gas containing unburned combustibles discharged from a gasification is separated into char and exhaust gas by a cyclone, the separated gas is burned in a combustion furnace, heat of exhaust gas after combustion is recovered by a boiler, and ash generated during combustion is melted in a melting furnace connected to a connecting part lower part of the combustion furnace and the boiler.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for treating exhaust gas by means of activated carbon layer by which the exhaust gas can be prevented from passing through spaces in a filler layer formed by a loss of particulate activated carbon and the particulate activated carbon can be prevented from floating caused by gas flow.
