Then, at the time of gradually increasing oxygen potential in the blowing gas, the desulfurizing reaction from the molten iron into the slag is mainly developed at the initial stage of the refining and the desulfurizing reaction from the slag into the gas is mainly developed after middle stage and as the whole, the desiliconizing and dephosphorizing reactions are promoted at the same time of desulfurizing reaction.

    • PURPOSE:To surely refine a small-volume molten steel and to minimize the formation of scrap by closing the molten steel lead-out pipe of a vacuum refining furnace, evacuating the furnace inside to a reduced pressure, introducing a required amt. of the molten steel from the molten steel introducing pipe of the vacuum refining furnace ponitioned in the molten steel in a vessel for the molten steel into the furnace and refining the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:A valve 3 of the molten steel lead-out pipe 2 of the vacuum refining furnace 1 is closed and the furnace 1 inside is evacuated to the reduced pressure. The molten steel 5 is introduced through the molten steel introducing pipe 6 positioned in the molten steel 5 in the vessel 4 for the molten steel into the vacuum refining furnace, then a valve 3a of the molten steel introducing pipe 6 is closed. An inert gas is blown from a blow nozzle 9 into the molten steel 5 in the furnace 1 and the molten steel 5 is refined while alloy iron is added thereto from an alloy iron hopper 10. The refined steel is tapped from the molten steel lead-out pipe 2 into a vessel 7 for casting.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the load of operation of a furnace by putting a metallic oxide for an alloying component and an exothermic reagent on the surface of molten steel in a vessel, reducing the oxide, charging the resulting alloying element into the molten steel, and adding a basicity adjusting agent and a flowability improving agent to slag produced on the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:The oxide 3 of an alloying element and an exothermic reagent 4 are put on molten steel 2 charged into a vessel 1. The oxide 3 is reduced in a reducing reaction part 5, the resulting molten alloying element drops into the molten steel 2, and slag 7 is produced on the surface of the steel 2. A basicity adjusting agent and a flowability improving agent 6 are added to the slag 7. Electrodes 9 are placed on the surface of the steel 2, and while carrying out gas bubbling 8 from the bottom of the vessel 1, the steel 2 is refined under heating using the produced slag 7. The steel is desulfurized and deoxidized by refining, using the slag 7.

    • PURPOSE:To dephosphorize and refine molten iron satisfactorily by blowing mixed powder of finely pulverized lime powder and finely pulverized carbon powder directly into the molten iron by using a nonreactive carrier gas during oxygen refining of the molten iron by a top blowing method, and enhancing agitating effect by the gaseous CO produced at that time. CONSTITUTION:Gaseous O2 is blown from an upper lance 3 toward molten iron 3 in a converter 1, thereby refining the molten iron 3. During this oxygen refining, a mixture of finely sulverized lime (e.g.: CaCO3) and finely pulverized carbon powder is blown through a tuyere 5 into the molten iron 3 by a nonreactive carrier gas (e.g.; N2). Thereby, bubbles 6 are first formed in the upper part of the tuyere 5, and reducing gaseous CO is produced within these bubbles and is floated as multiple bubbles 7 in the molten iron 3. By the bubbling effect at the time of this floating, the molten iron 3 is sufficiently stirred and steel making is accomplished. The finely pulverized limestone powder and the finely pulverized carbon powder of
