    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for restraining deterioration of a sealing property of a fuel cell.SOLUTION: A fuel cell stack 100 has a stack structure such that plural unit cells 110 are laminated and fastened. The unit cell comprises a membrane electrode assembly 10, and first and second separators 21, 22 holding the film electrode assembly. Each unit cell is provided with manifold holes constituting manifolds M1-M4 for circulating reaction gas on an outer periphery of a power generation region in which the film electrode assembly is arranged. A space housing a seal member 40 and having a side wall defining thickness of the seal member under a pressurized state is formed by a second recess 32 provided between first and second separators and surrounding the manifold holes.
