    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil purifying method utilizing a biodegradable oligomer capable of decomposing and removing a pollutant stably and efficiently without leaving and accumulating an intermediate product.
      SOLUTION: In the soil purifying method utilizing the biodegradable oligomer for decomposing and removing the pollutant, which comprises an organochlorine compound or petroleum hydrocarbon, by the action of microorganisms in soil by supplying a hydrogen supply agent to polluted soil containing the pollutant, the hydrogen supply agent is a low-molecular compound which is obtained from a diol and a dicarboxylic acid and the low-molecular compound is the biodegradable oligomer decomposed under an anaerobic condition. The repeating unit of the biodegrable oligomer is preferably 2-20.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil-conditioning fertilizer which is useful as a fertilizer and reduces nitrate nitrogen within soil with a high selectivity and at a low cost.
      SOLUTION: The soil-conditioning fertilizer contains a biodegradable resin and a nitrogen-containing fertilizer and reduces nitrate nitrogen concentration in the soil through denitrification reaction performed by denitrifying bacteria in the soil. The denitrification reaction proceeds under an anaerobic condition. The soil-conditioning fertilizer further contains a calcium compound pH adjuster. The nitrogen-containing fertilizer is an inorganic and/or organic fertilizer, and the biodegradable resin shows 60-100% degradability both under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. If the biodegradable resin is polyethylene succinate, the molar ratio of hydrogen contained in polyethylene succinate to nitrogen contained in the nitrogen-containing fertilizer is 1:1 to 10:1.
