    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard coating technique capable of securing a high film hardness while sufficiently suppressing warpage of a film.SOLUTION: The modified silica particle is obtained by chemically modifying the surface of a silica particle with a hydrolytic condensate of alkoxysilane. The hydrolytic condensate has one or more structural units (a) represented by general formula (A): RSiO(OX){Ris hydrogen atom or substituted or non-substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group, X is hydrogen atom or R', R' is 1-3C alkyl, and p is an integer of 0-3}. The one or more structural units (a) of the hydrolytic condensate include a structural unit in which Ris a monovalent hydrocarbon group substituted with a polymerizable unsaturated group, and in the one or more structural units (a) of the hydrolytic condensate, the molar quantity ratio of unit p=0 to the total molar quantity of unit p=0, unit p=1 and unit p=2 is 1-40 mol% as a value calculated from peak areas ofSi-NMR spectra.
