    • PURPOSE:To smoothen preprocessing for O press forming and regular welding that follow U forming and to improve the quality of a steel tube by specifying a tool used for U press bending in manufacturing UOE steel tubes.     • PURPOSE:To weld a seam part without generating defect such as high temp. crack or the like by forming the inside surface side of a double Vee groove to be formed on a clad steel pipe to a double-step groove, and subjecting the 2nd step on the inside to band arc welding after welding the 1st step on the inside on the outside. CONSTITUTION:The outside surface 7 of a double Vee groove 5 in the seam part of a clad steel pipe consisting of a low alloy steel 1a on the outside and a stinless steel 1b, etc. on the inside is formed to 60-90 deg., and the inside surface 6 is formed to a double-step groove consisting of the 1st step 6a of 60-90 deg. and the 2nd step 6b of 90-140 deg.. The 1st step 6a on the inside is first welded by submerged arc welding. The welding is accomplished by taking care to keep the steel 1b part free from the toe of the weld bead. The surface 7 is then welded in the same way. The 2nd step 6b on the surface 6 side is welded by band arc welding using a band electrode in succession to the above-mentioned welding. The defect such as high temp. weld crack or the like is prevented and the defectless weld zone having no slag inclusion is obtd. by the above-mentioned method.
