    • PURPOSE:To smoothen preprocessing for O press forming and regular welding that follow U forming and to improve the quality of a steel tube by specifying a tool used for U press bending in manufacturing UOE steel tubes. CONSTITUTION:A tool 1 used for U press forming is so made so that the range of angle theta on the bottom 1a is 100-150 deg., and the radius of U-shaped steel plate sprung back after U press has a radius of curvature R that becomes the bending radius nearly corresponding to succeeding O press, and the radius of curvature on both sides 1b, 1b of the tool 1 that continue from the bottom 1a is made to a radius R1 which is smaller than the radius of curvature R of the bottom 1a by at least 30%.

    • PURPOSE:To perform continuous tack welding at a high speed with good efficiency, by constituting an upper clamping body of a pair of light and left opening/closing type clamps which are separated at the center and opening successively the same when a welding head moves to approach the clamps. CONSTITUTION:A pipe P which is loaded in a machine frame 1 is so seamed that an open seam part P1 is positioned right above. A bolster 4 moves upward to lift the pipe P with a lower clamping body, thereby sandwiching the pipe between the same and an upper clamping body 6. When a welding head 13 moves to approach the position of the body 6, right and left opening/closing clamps 7, 8 open successively at the gap G that permits the movement and passage of the head 13 to permit continuous tack welding. The pipe P subjected to the tack welding is unloaded on conveyance rolls as the bolster 4 descends, and is discharged to the outside of the frame 1.
