CONSTITUTION:Phases of voltages generated in a charging coil 1 for a capacitor and a signal coil 21 of a sensor are arranged in such a manner that an alternating voltage of a first system of the signal coil 21 is generated on a positive side of a voltage of the charging coil 1, while an alternating voltage of a second system is generated on a negative side of the charging coil 1. Signal voltages of the first and second systems generated in the signal coil 21 of the sensor are identified by the voltage of the charging coil, and further the signal voltage of the second system is identified by a timer circuit to be triggered by a voltage of the signal coil, thereby obtaining stepped ignition timing characteristic.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the charging voltage of a capacitor from decreasing without increasing the output of a generator nor adding other coil by forming a nonmagnetic unit having width larger than that of a core of magnetic material at a winding for a capacitor charging coil. CONSTITUTION:In a magneto generator of an internal combustion engine ignitor having a rotor 1 including a magnet 2, and a stator including a capacitor charging coil 4 and an output coil 5 wound around a core 3, a nonmagnetic unit 6a is provided at an igniting salient pole 3a on which the coil 4 is wound. The thickness of the nonmagnetic portion of a coil winding insulating layer 5 and the unit 6a is increased larger than that of two magneic paths 3a1, 3a2 of a magnetic material. Thus, since the impedance of the inductance of the coil 4 can be reduced, it can prevent the charging voltage of the capacitor from decreasing at middle high speed or higher.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent breakage of semiconductor switching element by a method wherein a circuit, impressing the generating output of another polarity of a charging coil to a control pole, is opened when a current flowing through the control pole of the semiconductor switching element for ignition becomes higher than a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:When the gate current of a thyristor 10 is increased, the voltage drop of a circuit series with a transistor 17 is increased and the voltage of a connecting point (b) is increased. When this value arrives at a set value, the thyristor 19 is conducted and short-circuits between the base emitters of the transistor 17, therefore, the transistor 17 is put OFF and the supply of the gate current from a charging coil 3 to the thyristor 10 is interrupted. According to this method, the supply of excess gate current to the thyristor 10 may be precluded and the breakage may be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To divide a signal coil and need no winding, by a method wherein a plurality of magnetic poles are arranged so that a section without magnetic variation may be found although the magnetic variation is found almost in the circumferential direction. CONSTITUTION:When a signal coil 5 confronts section (2c-2l, 2a) where the magnetic variation of a magnet is alternately found, then, voltage is generated, and on the section 2b of the magnet 2 where the pole N is continuously found, voltage is not generated, and voltage in the positive direction is applied as ignition signal to the gate of thyristor. When the voltage in the positive direction is generated immediately after an ignition condenser is charged, then the thyristor is conducted, and high voltage is generated on the secondary coil for the ignition coil, and the ignition plug 17 is ignited.
