摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical filter having a simple structure using a metal thin film and simultaneously controlling the wavelength of a transmitted light and a polarizing light to a prescribed state, and to provide a display device using the optical filter. SOLUTION: The optical filter includes the metal film provided with a plurality of opening parts having a long axis direction and a short axis direction. In the metal film, the plurality of the opening parts are arranged rectangular lattice-like so that the long axis direction of the opening part and the long axial direction of the rectangular lattice are coincident with each other and is formed so that the length of the opening part in the short axis direction and the length of the rectangular lattice in the short axis direction are shorter than the wavelength of incident light.
