    • PURPOSE:To cool uniformly a metallic strip without causing any deformation, etc. by transporting the metallic strip along the peripheral surface of the drum part of a cooling roll, and bringing another roll which is provided opposite to the cooling roll into contact with the rear surface of the metallic strip. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip W is transported along the peripheral surface of the drum part of a cooling roll 1, and cooled by passing a refrigerant such as water through the refrigerant flow passage 1.1 of the cooling roll 1. In said device for cooling metallic strips, one or more other cooling roll 2 which contacts with the rear surface side of the steel strip W is provided opposite to said cooling roll 1, and a refrigerant is passed through the refrigerant flow passage 2.1 of the roll 2 to cool the rear surface side of the steel strip W. Consequently, the whole surface of the steel strip W is uniformly cooled regardless of unevenness of the steel strip W and without promoting the deformation of the steel strip W at the parts C and C' of contact between the peripheral surface of respective cooling rolls 1 and 2 and both surfaces of the steel strip W.

    • PURPOSE:To increase the passing speed of hoop, by installing bridle rolls for adjusting tension in the rear of a pretreating furnace, and by adjusting the tension in the pretreating furnace and the tension of the hoop at a nozzle separately. CONSTITUTION:Bridle rolls 14a, 14b driven by a motor are installed as substitutes of a turn down roll in the position, where the turn down roll is formerly arranged, in order to remove the relation between the tension of the hoop 13 in the furnace and the tension of the hoop at the nozzle 9. The tension of the hoop in the pretreating furnaces 2, 3, 4, 5 is set by the adjustment of the output of the motors of a tension-adjusting means 1 and of the bridle rolls 14a, 14b. The tension of the hoop at the nozzle 9 is set by the adjustment of output of motors for the bridle rolls 14a, 14b and a tension bridle roll 12. As a result, the tension at the nozzle 9 is set at a high value, so that there are no chances of contraction or out off of the hoop 13 in the pretreating furnace.

    • PURPOSE:To miniaturize the induction heater and, at the same time, to enable the maintenance of the heating furnace to be performed easily, by constituting the induction heater in the furnace chamber so as to be able to be inserted and drawn out through the upper face of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The induction heater 6 is prepared to the dimensions being able to enter and leave freely the inside of the furnace chamber 1 made of refractory heat-insulating material. In this induction heater 6, the induction coil 2 is wound on the laminated iron core 3 interposing the insulating material 4 and, in this way, the magnetic flux at the side of inner circumference of the coil 2 is prevented from intersecting with other structures with the iron core 3. The induction heater 6 is formed by covering the structure constituted of the above induction coil 2, the insulating material 4 and the iron core 3 with the projecting vessel 5 made of refractory material. Or, further, by covering its outer side with the reinforcing material 8 made of refractories or metal, the induction coil 2 is protected. This induction heater 6 is placed in the furnace chamber 1 and the heating of the molten metal 7 or the melting of solid metal is performed by means of this heater 6. Because the shape of the furnace chamber 1 is simple and the heater 6 can be taken out freely, the maintenance and inspection are easy.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the titled device capable of cooling a metallic strip uniformly widthwise and lengthwise by blowing a jet gas against the part of contact between a roll and a metallic strip which is transported along the peripheral surface of the cooling roll. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip W winds along the peripheral surface 1.2 of a cooling roll 1 having a refrigerant passage 1.1 inside, and is transported in the direction as shown by the arrow and cooled. In said cooling device, a nozzle 2 is provided at the inlet side of the steel strip W, and a jet gas G is blown against the part of contact C between the surface of the steel strip W and the peripheral surface 1.2 of the cooling roll 1. Accordingly, a gaseous film is formed between the peripheral surface 1.2 of the roll and the surface of the steel strip W, and the strip is cooled at the part of contact C. Consequently, the steel strip W which is transported is cooled widthwise and lengthwise at a uniform cooling rate, and the deformation and unevenness in quality of the steel strip W is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent uneven plating due to the clogging of a gas injection port with molten zinc by constituting a gas throttling device for blowing away excess molten zinc of a molten zinc plated steel strip of a rotatable external cylinder having the gas injection ports and an internal cylinder for supplying gas having a sealing member. CONSTITUTION:Excess molten zinc deposited on a zinc plated steel strip 3 coming out from a molten zinc plating bath 2 is blown away from both sides of the steel strip 3 with gas injection by a gas throttling device 1. The gas throttling device 1 is constituted of a circular external cylinder 5 having gas injection ports 8 and nozzles 9 which is rotatable in the circumferential direction, and of an internal cylinder 11 having at the inside a gas supply port 16 and a sealing member 17 on the opposite side. The pressurized gas supplied into the internal cylinder 11 is spouted from a nozzle 9 of the external cylinder 5 on the outer side to blow away excess molten zinc. When the port of the nozzle 9 is clogged by the deposition of molten zinc, the external cylinder 5 is turned to an angle of 180 deg. and the gas is injected from another new nozzle 9. In addition, the injection of the pressurized gas from the nozzle 9 not facing the steel strip 3 is prevented by the sealing member 17.
