    • PURPOSE:To clamp two different kinds of workpieces with one workpiece clamping device by utilizing projected portions of the workpieces projecting in one of machining directions, e.g., such as reinforcing ribs and the like. CONSTITUTION:Two pairs of axial direction clamping cylinders 6 and 7 supported by a fixture frame 5 clamp identical workpieces of arbitrary kind between two kinds of cast workpieces 1, one by one, to the fixture frame 5 in the axial direction of the workpiece by gripping their both ends so that orientation of the workpieces is parallel but opposite to each other. In addition, two reference blocks 9 and 10 of the fixture frame 5, which correspond to the clamped cast workpieces, are used for positioning of the workpieces in the peripheral direction through engaging them with the projected portions of the cast workpieces so that these projected portions face to the perpendicular and same direction with respect to the plane containing the workpiece axis. When two workpieces are of different kinds from each other and are to be positioned in the same orientation, the workpieces are positioned in the axial direction so that the projected portions form a line in the tangential direction. After that, the workpieces are clamped by mutual approach of piston rods.

    • PURPOSE:To make a clutch mechanism compact by making the drive gear provided to a output shaft and the driven gear provided to a input shaft directly engage or disengage according to the slide motion in the axial direction of the output shaft. CONSTITUTION:A drive gear 25 is provided to the output shaft (dirve shaft) 21 at the side of a turret heat 11, and a driven gear 59 to the input shaft (not shown in the drawing) at the side of a multispindle head (gang head) 12. And then, the gears 25 and 59 perform clutch motion being engaged or disengaged each other according to the slide motion of the output shaft 21. This mechanism causes it unnecessary for the output and the input shafts to share the same axis resulting in the reduction of the number of the gears of the gear train on the spindle head. As a result, the whole of the mechanism can be compacted.
