摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a non-leakage connection by forming a pipe joint with a shape memory resin, forming threads on the inner surface of the opening of the joint, and mounting a diameter enlargement prevention member on the outer side of the threaded section to press the pipe joint between a threaded metallic pipe and the diameter enlargement prevention member. CONSTITUTION:To connect a polyolefine pipe 33 with a metallic pipe 37 by means of a pipe joint 31, first a female thread section 44 of the pipe joint 31 is screwed onto a male thread section 51 of the metallic pipe 37. In this case, enlargement of diameter of the female thread section 44 can be prevented by a diameter enlargement prevention member 43 fitted closely onto the outside of the female thread section 44. Next, the polyolefine pipe 33 is inserted into a connecting port 35 of the pipe joint 31. Then, a diameter-enlarged section 45 of the pipe joint 31 is heated and then allowed to shrink to tighten the polyolefine pipe 33. At the same time, a heat-fusible resin layer 47 on the inner surface of the diameter-enlarged section 45 is melted to heat-fuse it with the outer surface of the polyolefine pipe 33. Thus the heat-fusible resin layer 47 integral with a compact is integrated with the polyolefine pipe 33 to provide a strong and highly water-tight connecting condition.

The contact parts are provided by inserting conductive pieces each having a predetermined shape into a gap between the end of the heating element 4 and a pipe or a flat plate as a member to be joined 2.

CONSTITUTION:An electrofusion pipe fitting 1 is equipped with a fusion attachment layer 2 made of thermoplastic polymers and including a heat emitting means and a base layer 3 which is made of a shape memory recovering resin having a shape holding property at the melting point of the thermoplastic polymer and which is formed in a single piece on the outside of the fusion attachment layer 2. The inside diameter of this electrofusion pipe fitting 1 is enlarged to over the outside diameter of a pipe to be joined 4 made of polyolefin, and an in-core 5 is installed in such a position as enclosing the gap in the joint part from the inside of the pipe joined 4. The in-core 5 for use with the joining method for polyolefin pipe 4 has a locating projection 6 in a flange form.

摘要： PURPOSE:To form a complete seal between end faces of pipes by providing an annular fusing member consisting of a thermoplastic polymer at jointing end faces of the pipes to be jointed when polyolefin pipes are to be jointed by using electro-fusion pipe joint. CONSTITUTION:By energizing a heat generating body in an electro-fusion pipe joint, pipes to be jointed (olefin pipe) l are fused together with a fusing layer 5 provided on the inside of a base layer 4 of the joint. These are integrally fused. In this case, a fusing member 3 consisting of a thermoplastic polymer, in which a plurality of protrusions 6 having the shape of a doughnut and extending in the direction of pipe axis are provided for easily mounting them on the end parts of the pipes, is provided on the jointing end faces 2 of the pipes to be jointed 1. Thus, when the heat generating body is energized at jointing the pipes, the fusing member 3 is easily fused and a clearance between the end faces of the pipes 1 to be jointed is completely buried so as to form a seal having excellent sealing property.

The electrode 5 is fitted to the heating element layer 4 and a power source 6 is connected thereto.

Reactive material for forming shape memory resin is poured into a cavity in the metal mold formed by the cores and the internal face of the metal mold, and a compound body consisting of the part for fitting to the main pipe and the part for connecting the branch pipe, both of which are made of shape memory resin layers formed over the outer periphery of a heat-sealing resin pipe, is formed by polymerization. Then, the pipe constituting the part for fitting to the main pipe of the compound body is cut along its longitudinal direction at a part opposite to a position wherefrom the part for connecting the branch pipe rises. In connecting the branch pipe, the saddle-shaped part 23 for fitting to the main pipe is put astride on the main pipe 11, and the part 23 for fitting to the main pipe is heated at the temperature below the glass transition point of the shape memory resin and is restored to its original shape, then the heat-sealing resin layer 29 is melted and stuck to the exterior of the main pipe 11 by heat sealing.

In succession, the main pipe setting part 23 is straddled on the main pipe 11 and, after it is heated and attached to the main pipe 11, a hole is bored in the main pipe 11 in the branch pipe connection, connecting the branch pipe 13 to the main pipe. With this constitution, connection of the branch pipe can be done without cutting the main pipe, thus setting to the main pipe becomes strengthened.

When two pipes made of a crosslinked polyethylene with an outer layer 41 covered by fusing a low density polyethylene having the same quality as that of the electrically heating element 2 are respectively inserted from each of both ends of the socket wherein the diameter has been enlarged at 80 deg.C and an alternating voltage is applied to each two electrode terminals 3 on both ends of the electrically heating element 2 from an electric source 5, the base body 1 is recovered to its original shape and the electrically heating element 2 and polyethylene on the surface of the pipe 4 are fused together and the pipe 4 and the socket are strongly bonded.
