SOLUTION: Air bubble 26 left near optical elements such as an LD14, a PD15, and an MPD16 mounted on a waveguide element when the optical elements are covered with a silicone resin 18 is moved only by vacuum debubbling through grooves 22 and 25 formed near the light emission and reception end surfaces of the LD14, the PD15 and the MPD16 to easily leave the light emission and reception surfaces of the optical elements, so the air bubble 26 shields none of the light emission and reception end surfaces and the influence on the optical coupling is eliminated.

A tapered engagement part 13a of the quartz optical waveguide path component 13 is loaded on the recessed part 14 along a positioning reference surface, and a short optical fiber 18 having a polished end surface is fixed along a V-shaped groove guide to be connected with a MT connector. Whereby positioning mechanism of the waveguide path-type optical component and the optical fiber, and an MT connector-type receptacle mechanism can be simultaneously realized, and they can be easily mounded on a surface of an electronic circuit board and the like.

SOLUTION: The two-way WDM optical transmission reception module is made up of an optical branch guide path formed on a plane substrate (Si substrate), a groove 10 provided to a branch part of the optical branch guide path, a dielectric multi-layer film filter 5 that is inserted in the groove 10 and branches an input light in a transmission direction and a reflection light depending on its wavelength, a transmission laser diode LD 3 and a reception photo diode PD 6 coupled optically with the optical branch guide path on the plane substrate 1. The transmission wavelength of the dielectric multi-layer film filter 5 is set to the reception wavelength of the reception PD 6 and a block wavelength of the dielectric multi-layer film filter 5 is set to the oscillation wavelength of the transmission LD 3 and the transmission LD 3 and the reception PD 6 are placed opposite to each other with the dielectric multi-layer film filter 5 inbetween.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which has both of performance about a loss, crosstalk, etc., and the extendability of the number of ports. SOLUTION: The optical switch is prepared on a plane substrate for converting signal light propagated through a waveguide 3 or 4 to light beams expanded consecutively within a plane by a light beam conversion part 2 and thereafter switching them via a main slab optical waveguide 1. The light beams expanded consecutively within the plane can take a beam deflection angle larger than that of the output of an array waveguide lattice. In the case of trying to make beams which minimize a beam width at the center pass through the waveguide 1, the minimum value of the beam width of an input/output position is determined by the length of the waveguide 1. When the conversion part 2 is designed so as to realize this minimum value, the optical switch which is small and has a larger number of ports is realized.
