摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a means for removing a surface flaw efficiently and going a flaw removing process on line in a rolling line for a steel material. CONSTITUTION:An abrasive material is sprayed by a high pressure fluid jet current, that is, an abrasive water jet is applied to cutting the end of a hot roughing down material before a finish rolling process. The width 300mm or less of the end of the hot roughing down material is removed by 10-500mum by grinding under the conditions that the high pressure water pressure is 200-8000kgf/cm , and the weight proportion of the supply amount of an abrasive material to the supply quantity of water is 0.05-2.2. Thus, the need of a rolling process after roughing-down and trimming for a defect part after acid cleaning can be eliminated so as to improve article forming yield rate. Furthermore, a line for removing a flaw such as a slitter line or a recoil line can be omitted so as to increase the efficiency of a line process.

摘要： PURPOSE:To enable the sufficient follow-up of the slab from continuous casting to a rolling line and the sure descaling thereof. CONSTITUTION:The jet flow of a high-pressure polishing material contg. a polishing material, such as abrasive grains consisting of metallic powder, garnet, etc., in high-pressure fluid of >=100kgf/cm and more preferably 1000 to 4000kgf/ cm at a weight ratio of 0.05 to 2.0 supply weight of the polishing material/ volume of water is injected within a 50mm range from the respective top and bottom ends of the edge end faces of the slab and within a 100mm range from the edges of the upper and back surfaces thereof, by which the thickness of 1 to 5mm from the surfaces are ground away. The edge scabs generated in a subsequent rolling stage are completely prevented by concentrically grinding the ends of this slab. The grinding of this part can deal with the high-temp. slab as well and high-speed rolling line as well by applying, so-called abrasive water jet processing.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent surface flaws and to enable width of high precision by arranging one vertical roll to come into contact with the outer circumferential surface of an upper horizontal roll and the other vertical roll to come into contact with the end face as well as the outer circumfererntial surface of the upper horizontal roll. CONSTITUTION:Edger rolls 6, 7 are set for a prescribed width in accordance with the rolling reduction for the width of a rolling stock 8 by a width rolling down device 4. Then, in order that an upper work roll 2 may not interfere with the edge rolls 6, 7 at the time of setting thickness, the upper work roll 2 is shifted to a prescribed position, namely to the operating side so that the bodily longitudinal end face on the driving side of the upper work roll 2 fits the set position of the driving side edger, in accordance with the width set by the edger roll. Simultaneously, a lower work roll 3 is shifted to the driving side so that the bodily longitudinal end face on the operational side fits the set position of the operational side edger. This shift is performed by a hydraulic cylinder 1. Thus, a peculiar rolling phenomenon is avoided in the proximity of the edge of the rolling stock.
