摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the local erosion of a protective tube and to enable the execution of continuous temperature measurement for a long time, by moving the protective tube upward and downward in a molten metal and by rotating the same around the axis in the longitudinal direction, on the occasion when a sensor for temperature measurement is dipped in the molten metal for measuring temperature. CONSTITUTION:A platinum-rhodium thermocouple is disposed inside a protective tube 1 whose main constituent is boride ceramics, and terminals of the thermocouple are connected to a meter by compensation conductors through the intermediary of a connection terminal box 5. At the time of dipping in a molten metal for measuring temperature, the protective tube 1 is moved upward and downward and rotated by a supporting device 6 which moves the protective tube 1 upward and downward and rotates it while supporting the terminal box 5 on the upper side of the protective tube 1. When the temperature of the molten metal is measured, molten slug floats much in the surface part of the molten metal and this part tends to be oxidized at high temperature. Therefore, erosion can be prevented by a means wherein the same position of the protective tube 1 is not located in the surface part of the molten metal for a long time. Thereby the local erosion of the protective tube is prevented and the execution of continuous temperature measurement for a long time is enabled.

CONSTITUTION:Air is introduced into a thermocouple protective tube 1 thermally treating the internal surface of the tube and a body 1a comprising non-oxide ceramics and when material of the body 1a is a ZrB2 compound containing SiC, Si and Zr of a surface part are oxidized to form an oxide layer 1b comprising SiO2 and ZrO2. The formation of the oxidation film eliminates again and disconnection of a thermocouple 2 under a prolonged use, thereby enabling continuous measurement of temperature of molten iron stably.

摘要： PURPOSE:To continuously measure the temp. of a molten metal such as molten steel for a long time by mounting a refractory cylindrical tube containing ZrB2 to the outside layer of a thermocouple protective pipe based on a ZrB2 sintered body. CONSTITUTION:A thermocouple protective pipe is constituted of a ZrB2 thermocouple protective pipe main body 1 and a ZrB2 cylindrical sleeve 2. The main body is formed using a dense sintered body based on ZrB2 from the aspect of the reaction with a molten metal, the penetration and erosion of said metal and the oxidation resistance of material quality. The proper composition of the sintered body is based on Zr-boride and contains SiC, BN or the like as auxiliary components and consists of ZrB2 95-70wt.%, SiC 1-15wt.% and BN 4-29wt.%. The main body 1 and the sleeve 2 are bonded through a heat-resistant adhesive 3. By using the thermocouple protective pipe thus constituted, the temp. of molten steel can be continuously measured for a long time.

摘要： PURPOSE:To drastically reduce thermometric cost, by making it possible to perform the long time continuous thermometry of a high temp. molten metal such as molten iron or steel by heating said metal to 600 deg.C or more at the time of non-thermometry to hold said temp. CONSTITUTION:A thermometer is constituted by arranging a PR thermocouple 2 in a protective pipe 1 composed of boride ceramics and connecting the terminal thereof to a temp. recorder using a compensation conductor. The temp. of a molten metal such as molten iron or steel is measured using the thermometer thus constituted. But, in order to prevent the lowering in temp. of the protective pipe 1 at the time of non-thermometry, a burner 6 is arranged in a protective box 5 and the protective pipe 1 is connected thereto to prevent the lowering in temp. by heating. The shape and heating system of the protective box 5 are not limited and pref. set so as to uniformly heat the whole of the protective pipe 1. Even at the time of non-thermometry, by heating the protective pipe 1, the molten metal is held to temp. of at least 600 deg.C or more.
