    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method in which the number of imaging elements can be reduced by a method wherein a rectangular image having a large aspect ratio on a material to be inspected is formed on a two-dimensional imaging element which is a square shape or a rectangular shape having a small aspect ratio. SOLUTION: The surface of a slab 02 as a material to be inspected is irradiated with slit light from a light source 01, and its reflected light is condensed by a lens 03. After it has been condensed, its image is formed on a two-dimensional imaging element 05 via one- dimensional image guides arranged at constant intervals on the side of the slab 02 and via an image compression means 04 which has been installed at the other end without a gap. At this time, as an image which is radiated on the output side of the means 04, the image of the slab 02 becomes an image which is discontinuous and which is compressed in the width direction, and it is formed on the element 02. Consequently, the transversely long image in the width direction of the slab 02 can be formed on the element 05 which is a square shape or a rectangular shape having a small aspect ratio. An image, for measurement of a slab surface shape, which has been obtained is analyzed by an image processor 07, and the shape on the surface of the material to be inspected is measured. Thereby, the number of imaging elements can be reduced, the maintainability of an apparatus can be enhanced, and the inspection time of an inspection method can be shortened.

    • PURPOSE:To allow the highly accurate automatic measurement of dimensions, e.g. inner diameter or outer diameter, with no effect of gloss or the like on the surface of an object, i.e., a tubular mechanical component such as gear, bearing, or bush, even when the size of the object varies every time. CONSTITUTION:An object 1, i.e., a tubular mechanical component, is placed in the measuring area of a three-dimension measuring apparatus 2 with the axial direction thereof directing vertically. The object 1 is then imaged by an upright TV camera 7 and a lateral TV camera 6 and an image processing section 8 recognizes rough dimensions and position of the object 1 in the space from the image information. A three-dimensional measuring apparatus operation command section 9 calculates the moving path of a probe 3 in the apparatus 2 based on the recognized information and then the apparatus 2 is operated thus measuring accurate dimensions of the object 1 automatically.
