    • PURPOSE:To measure the surface roughness of an object of measurement with high accuracy by setting emitted light beams in optical paths of regularly reflected light beams when the object is irradiated with light beams and diffuse reflected light beams in plural directions. CONSTITUTION:The light beams from a light source 1 is projected on the surface of a steel plate P at an angle theta and the quantity of the regularly reflected light beams are detected by a radiometer 3 provided in the conjugate direction with the light source 1. Further, the quantities of the diffuse reflected light beams in the different directions are detected by radiometers 4, 5, and 6 arranged on a spherical surface having its center at the irradiation point O of the steel plate P. Consequently, the regular reflection factor of the steel plate P as the object of measurement and the diffuse reflection factors in the directions are found by using the radiant energy values measured by the radiometers 3-6 and radiant energy values corresponding to environmental temperature measured values at positions corresponding to the installation positions of the radiometers 3-6. The surface roughness of the steel plate P is calculated from a predetermined expression based upon those reflection factors. Thus, the surface roughness is accurately measured without being affected by the material and surface properties of the steel plate and variation in ambient temperature.

    • PURPOSE:To measure temperature with high accuracy by considering both regularly reflected radiation and diffuse reflected radiation and finding the reflected radiation energy in plural diffusion directions as to the diffuse reflection. CONSTITUTION:Light from a light generator 1 is guided to a light source 2 and projected upon the surface of a steel plate P at an angle theta. The quantity A of its regular reflection is detected by a light quantity detector 3. Further, the quantities S1, S2, and S3 of diffuse reflection in plural directions are guided to a computing element 7 through plural light quantity detectors 4, 5, and 6 arranged on a spherical surface having its center at the irradiation point of the steel plate P, thereby finding a regular reflection factor (a) and diffuse reflection factors S1, S2, and S3. A radiometer 8, on the other hand, measures radiation energy E in the direction of the steel plate P and a temperature measuring instrument 9 in the conjugation direction of the radiometer 8 and temperature measuring instruments 10, 11, and 12 in plural directions measure respective environmental temperatures Tr, T1, T2, and T3, from which the surface temperature of the steel plate P is found.

    • PURPOSE:To convey a material to be conveyed at predetermined conveying position in a furnace by accurately detecting the lug end of the material by means of microwave in the furnace anc controlling a conveyance correcting unit on the basis of the detected value. CONSTITUTION:When a material T to be conveyed is conveyed in zigzag manner to cause the lug end T-1 thereof to be displaced from predetermined conveying position, microwave transmitted from a microwave transmitter 4 varies in amount to be interrupted at the lug end T-1 to thereby change the microwave amount received by a microwave receiver 6. This microwave is compared with a target set signal B by an arithmetic control circuit 12, which thereby produces a conveyance control signal to a conveyance correcting unit controller 13 so as to make the difference between the signal zero. A conveyance correcting unit 14 is operated on the basis of the conveyance control signal from the circuit 12 to correct the conveying position at the lug end T-1 of the material. Thus, the lug end T-1 is conveyed at predetermined conveying position.

    • PURPOSE: To measure a tension being applied to a band metal accurately by disposing a slip unit on the lower bottom face at the bearing part of a deflector roll for measuring tension thereby eliminating the effect of the self-weight of deflector roll and band metal. CONSTITUTION: A band metal S winds around a deflector roll 2 to deflect by 90 deg. from a horizontal direction to a vertical direction. The deflector roll 2 has a bearing part 3 mounted on a slip unit 4 disposed on the lower bottom face so that the deflector roll 2 can be shifted horizontally with a weak force. The slip unit 4 bears the self-weight of the deflector roll 2, vertical tension of the band metal S being applied to the deflector roll 2, and the weight of the band metal S which causes an error in the measurement of tension. Horizontal tension of the band metal S being applied to the deflector roll 2 is measured directly by means of a load cell 6 mounted on the vertical side face at the bearing part 3. A slider with a linear bearing is preferably employed as the slip unit 4 because of its low coefficient of friction.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently perform roll recognition without any manual work in the recombination of a ground roll by providing a recognition means for recognition display by the roll classifications, a means for comparing recognition display by the roll classifications and a means for issuing alarm according to this comparison. CONSTITUTION:An actual article confirming device 1 is provided on rails (d) for a roll transfer truck (c) moving from a roll shop to the position of a roll recombinating truck (b) on the side of a mill (a). An image from a camera which photographs the display of the end face of the roll is converted and processed by an image processor into a signal, compared by comparator with a signal from a computer which inputs a roll tracking information and when the signal has a different kind, an alarm signal is issued. An oscillator originating a signal by the roll is provided on a recessed part of the end face of the roll as an actual article confirming device 1 and accurate actual article recognition can be performed by confirming and processing the signal.
