    • PURPOSE: To provide a method of liquefying coal to produce products improved in qualities by subjecting a slurry containing coal, a solvent and a catalyst to a liquefaction reaction to obtain specified mixtures A, B and C, hydroforming mixture C, distilling the hydroformate, recovering a light oil and a middle oil, and recirculating a heavy oil. CONSTITUTION: A solvent 1, a catalyst 2, and coal 3 are mixed with each other in a slurrying tank 4 and the formed slurry is sent together with a reducing gas 5 such as hydrogen to a liquefier 6 to effect a liquefaction reaction under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. The product is separated into a light oil 12, a middle oil 13, and a heavy oil 14 in gas/liquid separators 7-11, and the obtained liquid is separated into a heavy oil 16 and residues 17 in a vacuum distillation tower. A mixture of the light oil 12, the middle oil 13, and the heavy oil 16 are fed together with a reducing gas into a solvent hydrogenation towers 18 and 19 and reformed to obtain a mixture of a reformed light oil 12' with a reformed middle oil 13' and a reformed heavy oil 16'. The mixed modified oil is separated in atmospheric distillation towers 20, 21 and 22 to recover product light oils 23 and 24 and a product middle oil 25, and the reformed heavy oil 26 is hydrogenated to obtain a hydrogenation product recirculated as a solvent for coal slurrying.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a method for both stably taking out a liquefaction residue from a vacuum distillation column and recovering an iron-based liquefying catalyst in the liquefaction residue in stably running and operating a coal liquefying process. CONSTITUTION:This method for taking out a liquefaction residue in a coal liquefying process is to remove ash in the liquefaction residue on the side of an inlet or an outlet of a vacuum distillation column 23 and then take out the liquefaction residue in taking out the liquefaction residue from the bottom of the vacuum distillation column 23 of a liquefied oil distillation step in the coal liquefying process comprising a coal liquefying step for mixing powdered coal prepared by pulverizing raw material coal with a solvent for liquefying the coal and a coal liquefying catalyst, preparing a coal slurry, pressurizing and heating the resultant coal slurry in the presence of hydrogen, carrying out the liquefying reaction and producing the liquefied oil, the liquefied oil distillation step for distilling the produced liquefied oil under conditions of normal and reduced pressures and separating the liquefied oil into the product oil and the liquefaction residue and a solvent hydrogenating step for pressurizing and heating a part of the product oil obtained in the liquefied oil distillation step in the presence of a solvent hydrogenating catalyst, adding hydrogen thereto, carrying out the hydrogenating reaction and then circulating the resultant solvent for use as the solvent for liquefying the coal.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the segregation and the retaining of grains and mother liquid without the deterioration of classification in the crystallization tank, to promote the growth of crystal, and to obtain high yield, by taking out a part of the mother liquid of ammonium sulfate at the upper part of the crystallization tank and providing plural injection nozzles to introduce the liquid again to the bottom part of crystallization tank for circulation. CONSTITUTION:The circulating liquid (saturated solution of ammonium sulfate) of reduced concn. is introduced from the upper part of the crystallization tank 1 through a piping 7 and a pump 8 to the near part of bottom of the tank 1 where the circulating liquid and crystal grains are retained. In this case, the circulating liquid is injected through the injection nozzles 9 plurally provided along the peripheral direction as shown in the figure. Thus, by injecting liquid along the peripheral direction horizontally to the tank 1 so as to make a whirling flow, the crystal growth is promoted without the deterioration of grain classification in the tank 1. In the figure, 2 shows a vacuum evaporation tank and 4 shows a down-take pipe.
